L’église Notre-Dame-des-Anges fut construite en 1898 pour subvenir à la demande grandissante de la paroisse. Au préalable, 2 chapelles ont été construites soit en 1877 et en 1882.
L’église sera victime d’un incendie 10 ans, plus tard, soit en 1908. La paroisse se mobilise pour y effectuer sa reconstruction en 1909. La nouvelle église est érigée selon les plans de l'architecte Joseph-Pierre Ouellet.
Elle se trouve au cœur du village de Notre-Dame-de-Montauban, près du presbytère, en bordure de la rue principale qui traverse l'agglomération de part en part. Elle occupe une position qui lui permet de se faire voir de loin, notamment de l'autre côté de la rivière Batiscan, où elle fait office de point de repère dans le paysage.
Notre-Dame-des-Anges
Notre-Dame des Anges est un des noms de la Vierge Marie, en tant que « Reine des anges » selon l'Église catholique.
La colonisation du secteur débute à la fin des années 1860 et s'intensifie particulièrement au commencement de la décennie 1870. En 1871, un premier pont de bois enjambe la rivière Batiscan. L’année suivante, le missionnaire-colonisateur Narcisse Bellenger nomme la communauté naissante la colonie de Notre-Dame de la Batiscan.
Une première chapelle, un bâtiment assez petit, est bénie en 1877 et se trouvait devant le presbytère actuel, de l'autre côté de la rue Principale. En 1877, la colonie est renommée Notre-Dame-des-Anges de la rivière Batiscan lors de l’inauguration de la première chapelle. Cette chapelle sera incendiée vingt ans plus tard.
En 1879, la communauté change à nouveau de nom lors de son érection canonique, pour devenir la paroisse de Notre-Dame-des-Anges-de-Montauban.
Une deuxième chapelle plus grande est construite en 1882. Devenue trop petite, on construit une première église en 1898 qui sera incendiée en 1908. Reconstruite par les paroissiens l'année suivante, cette église reste très semblable à la première. Les plans sont de l'architecte Joseph-Pierre Ouellet.
La première messe, dite dans l’église actuelle, est la messe de la nuit de Noël 1909.
La bénédiction des trois cloches 🔔 s’est faite le 27 décembre 1910 soit un an plus tard.

Notre-Dame-de-Anges Church
Notre-Dame-des-Anges Church was built in 1898 to meet the growing demand of the parish. Two chapels had previously been built, in 1877 and 1882.
The church was destroyed by fire 10 years later, in 1908. The parish mobilized to rebuild it in 1909. The new church was built according to the plans of the architect Joseph-Pierre Ouellet.
It is located in the heart of the village of Notre-Dame-de-Montauban, near the presbytery, along the main street that crosses the village from one side to the other. It is situated so as to be seen from afar, especially on the other side of the Batiscan River, where it serves as a landmark in the landscape.
Notre-Dame-des-Anges
Notre-Dame des Anges (Our Lady of Angels) is one of the names of the Virgin Mary, as "Queen of Angels" according to the Catholic Church.
Colonization of the area began in the late 1860s and intensified during the early 1870s. In 1871, a first wooden bridge spanned the Batiscan River. The following year, the missionary-colonizer Narcisse Bellenger named the nascent community the colony of Notre-Dame de la Batiscan.
A first chapel, a rather small building, was blessed in 1877 and was located in front of the present presbytery, on the other side of the main street. In 1877, the colony was renamed Notre-Dame-des-Anges de la rivière Batiscan at the inauguration of the first chapel. This chapel was destroyed by fire twenty years later.
In 1879, the community changed its name again when it was canonically erected, becoming the parish of Notre-Dame-des-Anges-de-Montauban.
A second larger chapel was built in 1882. Having become too small, a first church was built in 1898 which was destroyed by fire in 1908. Rebuilt by the parishioners the following year, this church was very similar to the first one. The plans were by the architect Joseph-Pierre Ouellet.
The first mass, said in the current church, was the mass of Christmas Eve, 1909.
The blessing of the three bells occurred a year later, on December 27, 1910.
