Église Saint-Alexis

L’église de Saint-Alexis-des-Monts est nommée ainsi en l’honneur d’Alexis Boulanger, l’un des hommes qui s’est installé dans les cantons de Hunterstown dans les années 1850. Il voulait y défricher la terre pour y faire de l’agriculture.
En 1862, à la suite des constructions des routes de Rivière du Loup, plusieurs hommes arrivèrent pour vivre à l’endroit actuel de la ville. Alexis y achèta le terrain de la première chapelle. Au fil du temps, cet endroit fut surnommé « Concession de Saint-Alexis ». Après l’achat de terrains plus au nord, l’endroit devient Saint-Alexis-des-Monts. Alexis fit dons de ses terres pour que la communauté puisse se développer.
Saint-Alexis
L’église Saint-Alexis commence avec une chapelle ouverte au culte en 1868. La paroisse est officiellement érigée en 1871. Puis, pour desservir la population grandissante, on construit entre les années 1884 et 1885 l’église actuelle. Le bâtiment est érigé selon les plans d'architectes de Joseph Héroux, Ernest L. Denoncourt et Maurice Denoncourt. L’église est mise sur pied avec des murs et une façade en pierre en plus de se doter d’une toiture en tôle.
Une particularité de cette église est son orgue Casavant Frères opus 814 datant de 1919. Le site de l’église est enchanteur on peut même y retrouver directement un enclos, une grotte, un cimetière, la maison du sacristain et un presbytère.

Saint-Alexis Church
The church in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts is named after Alexis Boulanger, one of the men who settled in the Hunterstown Townships in the 1850s. He wanted to clear the land there for farming.
In 1862, following the construction of roads in Rivière-du-Loup, many men arrived to live in the current location of the town. Alexis bought the land for the first chapel. Over time, this area became known as the "Concession de St. Alexis." Following the purchase of land further north, the area became Saint-Alexis-des-Monts. Alexis donated his land so that the community could grow.
St. Alexis
St. Alexis church began with a chapel opened for worship in 1868. The parish was officially erected in 1871. Then, to serve the growing population, the current church was built between 1884 and 1885.
The building was erected according to the plans of the architects Joseph Héroux, Ernest L. Denoncourt and Maurice Denoncourt. The church is set up with stone walls and façade and a tin roof.
One of the particularities of this church is its Casavant Frères Opus 814 organ dating from 1919. The site of the church is enchanting, there is even an enclosure, a grotto, a cemetery, the sexton's house and a presbytery.
