L’église de Saint-Adelphe est construite entre 1914 et 1916. Celle-ci est créée selon les plans de l'architecte Joseph-Georges Bussières. Elle s'élèvera à côté du couvent des Filles de Jésus implanté en haut de la côte. La bâtisse est érigée après que la chapelle, construite en 1889, soit devenue trop petite pour la paroisse.
L’église forme un bel ensemble avec le presbytère qui s'élève tout près en plus de s'inscrire dans un petit noyau institutionnel et religieux avec l'école qui se dresse derrière. Elle se trouve dans un état d'authenticité remarquable, presque toutes ses composantes sont anciennes ou de facture traditionnelle.

11 SEPTEMBRE : SAINT ADELPHE
Adelphe, supérieur de l’abbaye de Remiremont, veut retourner à l’abbaye de Luxeuil (située alors en Bourgogne) avant de mourir. Mais pourquoi donc, alors qu’il est très âgé et très malade ?
Vingt ans plus tôt, il avait pris parti, là-bas, dans un conflit doctrinal entre un moine dissident et son abbé. Une erreur qu’il expia tout le reste de sa vie, en pleurant tant, dit-on, qu’il en devint aveugle ! Il est né en Lorraine et a été formé par saint Arnould, évêque de Metz qui deviendra moine à Remiremont.
Entré au monastère de Luxeuil (Luxeuil-les-Bains), Adelphe mène une vie exemplaire, mais c’est là qu’il est mêlé au schisme du moine Agrestius avec son parrain Amatus et son oncle Romaricus. Ce qui n'empêche pas d’ailleurs à tous les trois de devenir saints, après avoir fondé un nouveau monastère. En effet, c’est en 643, qu’Adelphe devient troisième abbé de Remiremont.
Il meurt un 11 septembre, entre 665 et 670. C’est un autre Lorrain, le pape Léon IX, qui le canonise en 1051.

Saint-Adelphe Church
Saint-Adelphe Church was built between 1914 and 1916. It was constructed according to the plans of the architect Joseph-Georges Bussières. It was built next to the Convent of the Daughters of Jesus located at the top of the hill. The building was erected beside after the chapel, built in 1889, became too small for the parish.
The church forms a lovely grouping with the presbytery that stands nearby and is part of a small institutional and religious core with the school that stands behind it. It is in a remarkable state of authenticity, almost all of its components are old or of traditional construction.

September 11: St. Adelphe
Adelphe, superior of the Abbey of Remiremont, wanted to return to the abbey of Luxeuil (then located in Burgundy) before he died. But why, when he was very old and very sick?
Twenty years earlier, he had taken sides in a doctrinal conflict between a dissident monk and his abbot. A mistake that he expiated for the rest of his life, crying so much, it is said that he became blind! He was born in Lorraine and was trained by St. Arnould, bishop of Metz, who became a monk in Remiremont.
Adelphe entered the Monastery of Luxeuil (Luxeuil-les-Bains) and led an exemplary life, but it was there that he became involved in the schism of the monk Agrestius with his godfather Amatus and his uncle Romaricus. This did not prevent all three from becoming saints, after having founded a new monastery. In fact, it was in 643 that Adelphe became the third abbot of Remiremont.
He died on a September 11, between 665 and 670. Another Lorrain, Pope Leo IX, canonized him in 1051.
